Building the Foundations of Competitive Tennis

Ages 8-11

The Austin Tennis Academy Junior Development (JD) program is designed for players from 8-11 years of age.  Players will be on a 4 week, rotating curriculum of fundamental technical instruction combined with entry-level tactical instruction. 

Getting Started in Competitive Tennis

Junior Development is the bridge from learning the game to playing the game to improve. This is where joy of the game becomes joy of competition.

Opportunities

Junior Development players are strongly encouraged to begin competing and gaining match experience through local and sectional junior tournaments.

  • USTA Junior Circuit tournaments
  • Capital Area Tennis Association (CATA) Tour events
  • Level 7 (L7) tournaments
  • USTA Junior Team Tennis teams

JD meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00 – 5:00 PM from September through May. This program is by invitation only. Players interested in joining should reach out to Austin Tennis Academy to schedule an evaluation and learn more about program details and pricing.
