About Us

A Community Built on Tennis, Excellence, and Giving Back.

our mission

Our mission is to help junior tennis student-athletes reach their full potential on the court, in the classroom, and in their personal life. The entire ATA community – students, parents, and staff – is living the sport of tennis. We strive to value both excellence in results and excellence in character equally. We pride ourselves on producing citizens of significance.

Our Story

Austin Tennis Academy was founded with a vision of excellence—both on the tennis court and in the classroom. Led by Coach Jack Newman, ATA was built by bringing together elite coaching, world-class facilities, and a fully accredited private school to create an environment where junior athletes can thrive and grow into the best version of themselves.

Giving Back

Austin Tennis Academy strives to develop what Coach Newman calls “citizens of significance, not just accomplishment.” While players are encouraged to pursue excellence on the court, equal importance is placed on character, integrity, and giving back. Coach Newman believes student-athletes should strive to be their very best while doing things the right way and becoming people who positively impact their communities.

A $1 Million Commitment to Make a Difference

When ATA was founded, Coach Newman pledged to raise $1 million for A Glimmer of Hope. Through the efforts of players, parents, and coaches, the ATA community has helped fund water wells, schools, and medical facilities in the Tigray region of Ethiopia. Members of the ATA community have even traveled there to help open these projects firsthand. To date, ATA has raised more than $650,000 toward its $1 million commitment.

Changing Lives

Another way Austin Tennis Academy has been giving back to the community since its inception is through the Shootout, our annual fundraising event supporting AASF, a 501(c)(3) charity that helps deserving student-athletes pursuing a disciplined lifestyle reach their highest level of accomplishment..

After nearly a quarter of a century of holding the Shootout, ATA has raised more than $2.2 million dollars that have been awarded in scholarships to dozens and dozens of junior players who have a philanthropic spirit and commit themselves to giving back and making a positive impact in the world.
