Fitness Professionals

Planning and working with the Austin Tennis Academy Staff, the Fitness Professionals provide an emphasis on core strength and conditioning to enhance the Austin Tennis Academy players' sports performance.

The Fitness team also provides programs, private, and semi-private sessions for ATA parents and other adults in the Austin and surrounding area community.

Mark J. D. Herbert

Mark Herbert is certified as a Corrective Holistic Exercise Kinesiologist (C.H.E.K. Practioner, III) and CHEK Nutrition and Lifestyle Coach (N.L.C. III). He has been personal training in sports and fitness for over 15 years. He has a Philosophy degree with a minor in Psychology from St. John’s University in Collegeville, Minnesota.

Mark trains adults and individual athletes to develop and compliment athletic skills and overall health.

He is a member of the elite group of professionals trained by the internationally recognized C.H.E.K. Institute in San Diego, CA. As a sports and fitness professional, Mark has been trained extensively by Paul Chek, NMT, HHP, drawing from several fields of knowledge from physical therapy to elite strength and conditioning. His “hybrid” education makes him ideal for training young tennis athletes, combining his indepth knowledge of the body and high performance conditioning.

Lance Hardin draws on a lifetime of experience as a trainer for professional athletes, ambitious junior athletes and people with full schedules striving to create a more healthful lifestyle. His background is influenced by high level experience in football and in martial arts such as Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Thai Boxing. Having studied the CHEK fitness approach, Lance helps his clients through Corrective, Holistic, Exercise and Kinesiology. Workouts are tailored to each individual's needs and goals, customizing then improving the physics of movement. An ideal client is anyone who seeks to improve their fitness and/or performance. Lance has a passion for empowering others to achieve their health and fitness goals.

Lucie Schmidhauser

In addition to being one of ATA's most experienced and accomplished tennis coaches, Lucie Schmidhauser is also a Pilates instructor, specializing in core strengthening and flexibility. She draws from her experience as a two time NCAA Tennis All-American, Senior Captain of the University of Texas 1995 Team National Champions and a Level 3 Peak Pilates certification, the most advanced certification in the Peak series. Along with the classic core focused mat Pilates courses, Lucie incorporates the use of simple equipment designed to engage a total body workout with no joint impact. She is able to tailor her programs to the precise abilities, needs and goals of each client.


Lynn Doelger

Lynn attended Ohio University on a full athletic scholarship and was graduated with a BS Degree in Recreational Studies. She holds certifications from The Cooper Institute for Exercise Aerobics in Dallas, Texas, for Personal Trainer, Fitness Specialist, Aerobic Instructor (Group Exercise), and Dietary Guidance. In addition she is a certified by the USATF as a Level I Track and Field Coach.

Lynn has 13 years experience in personal training and group exercise at the Barton Creek Country Club here in Austin. She has three years experience as a track and field coach working with young people at the Cedar Park Classic track club.

As an endurance athlete Lynn still "walks the talk". She has completed 20 marathons which includes winning both the Dallas White Rock and Amarillo Marathons. She is also a triathlete who has completed numerous triathlons including the full "Iron Man" distance.

Lynn’s has a broad experience base working with both young and old clients. She is equally talented helping adults set and attain their conditioning and weight loss targets, as well as, helping young athletes improve their strength and endurance levels.
